Founder & Managing Director

Jean-Christophe (JC) Barland is the Founder and Managing Director of InspInno LLC, a biotechnology and pharmaceutical advisory firm focused on commercialization strategy, market access, launch excellence, business development, and international growth.

With more than 25 years of global leadership experience across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare industries, JC has held senior executive roles in the United States, Japan, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and other international markets. His experience spans oncology, hematology, immunology, dermatology, ophthalmology, neuroscience, vaccines, medical nutrition, and advanced therapies.

Prior to founding InspInno LLC, JC served as Senior Vice President of Commercialization and Go-to-Market at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), where he led the development of enterprise-wide commercial operating models and commercialization strategies supporting the company's global growth objectives.

From 2017 to 2022, JC served as President and Representative Director of Bristol Myers Squibb Japan. During his tenure, he led the organization's growth strategy and helped establish market-leading positions for innovative therapies including Opdivo®, Sprycel®, and Orencia®. He also directed the successful integration of Celgene into BMS Japan and developed the long-term strategic vision known as "Japan Moonshot 2030."

Previously, JC served as President of BMS France and President of UPSA Worldwide, where he successfully restored growth, expanded leadership in immuno-oncology, and championed initiatives supporting cancer research and patient care. He also served as President of the Cancer Group at LEEM, the French Pharmaceutical Industry Association, and founded the BMS Foundation for Research in Immuno-Oncology.

Before joining Bristol Myers Squibb, JC held executive leadership positions with Danone Medical Nutrition, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Fujisawa (now Astellas), and Akzo Nobel. Throughout his career, he has led commercial organizations, launch programs, strategic partnerships, market development initiatives, and international expansion efforts across both mature and emerging healthcare markets.

JC holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the National Veterinary School of Lyon, France, and an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School in the United Kingdom. He also completed an academic exchange at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, where he focused on healthcare management, biotechnology, and health economics, further strengthening his expertise at the intersection of science, healthcare, and business strategy.

Today, through InspInno LLC, JC advises biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical organizations, investors, and healthcare innovators on commercialization strategy, market access, launch readiness, business development, organizational design, and international growth opportunities.
